Since its doors opened in June 2017, hundreds of seniors and their families at the Silver Hill PACE Center in Newark have embraced and enjoyed programs, activities, and events through the ElderONE program.
Participants joined with staff at the PACE (Program for All-inclusive Care for the Elderly) Center in late December to celebrate the five-year anniversary of the center’s opening.
Celebrating together
Bright balloons and signs brought more life and spirit to the halls and community rooms at the Silver Hill PACE Center at Newark as people gathered to celebrate the occasion.
Songs echoed through the hallways and rooms of the building as a local children’s elementary school chorus came to sing Christmas carols and bring joy to attendees. Staff brought in a large cake from Wegmans and shared slices with residents, family members, and providers.
‘A lifesaver for me’
Several ElderONE PACE program participants shared their experiences since joining – saying it has been a joy to be a part of.
“My health has gotten a lot better just come here - being here, being a part of the program,” said Sandra, a participant in the PACE program at Silver Hill. “This was a lifesaver for me and I’ve had a lot of other people out there say the same thing, that they don’t know what they would have done without ElderONE and their program.”
“It’s a good program. I do very well,” said Virginia, who also participates in the PACE program at Silver Hill. “I like all the people that work here and all the people, all the girls, and the rehab gym. I love all of them.”
As the only PACE program in the greater Rochester area, ElderONE offers a variety of care services through the PACE program. Services include a day center, home health care, medical care, rehabilitation, social services, and transportation – all available for people living in Monroe, Ontario and Wayne Counties.
To join PACE programs like ElderONE, eligible individuals must be 55 years old or older, live in the area served by ElderONE, need community-based care for more than 120 days, and be able to live safely in the community.
