MASSENA, NY – Certified Nurse Practitioner Francoise Bansenga has joined the Massena Hospital medical team, and is providing primary care services at the Louisville Health Center, 10 State Highway 37B, Massena.
NP Bansenga earned her Nurse Practitioner degree from Mount Marty College, College of Nursing, Yankton, SD. She is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.
Ms. Bansenga has extensive experience in family medicine and providing healthcare to patients throughout their lifespan. She practices evidence based medicine, which includes the skills she has developed throughout her career. She further emphasizes the importance of disease prevention and health promotion with her patients.
NP Bansenga noted the school where she received her training in South Dakota emphasized serving underserved communities in rural sections of the state, and she participated in the Rural Experience for Health Professional Students (REHPS) Program.
“This experience set my path; my first job post-graduation was in a community health clinic in South Dakota, which I enjoyed and learned a lot in the process,” NP Bansenga said. “I also worked in different communities as a locum (temporary) provider.
“I decided to take the opportunity to move to Northern New York, as some of my children moved to the east coast, where I now have two grandchildren,” she added. “I am so pleased to be part of St. Lawrence Health, and am looking forward to meeting members of the community and more of my colleagues in the coming days.”
As a Primary Care Nurse Practitioner, Ms. Bansenga assesses her patients’ health, administers preventive care, and helps to treat and manage general conditions.
