Helping you return to living life more fully and pain-free.

The Spine and Pain Center at the Batavia Medical Campus is a fully accredited interventional pain clinic dedicated to relieving chronic and acute pain through a wide range of minimally-invasive surgical and non-surgical techniques.

The treatment provided at our Pain Center to help relieve or eliminate a patient's pain includes a comprehensive assessment that focuses on an individual's specific symptoms to establish a diagnosis and to determine the source of the pain. Once this is done, a multi-disciplinary treatment plan is developed that is tailored to meet the patient's special needs. This plan uses a wide range of the latest minimally-invasive interventional procedures.

Treatments for a Wide Range of Pain-Related Conditions

The multidisciplinary team at United Memorial's Pain Center provides minimally invasive treatments for conditions that include:

  • Neck Pain
  • Cancer Pain
  • Phantom Limb
  • Myofascial Pain
  • Sciatica
  • Bursitis
  • Joint Pain
  • Post Herpetic Neuralgia (Shingles)
  • CRPS (Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy)
  • Peripheral Neuropathy
  • Failed Back Surgery Syndrome
  • Thalamic Pain Syndrome

A Team Approach for Optimum Care

At United Memorial, our physicians and support staff work closely with a patient's primary care physician and other health care professionals to help ensure the best possible care and outcomes. We specialize in using minimally invasive fluoroscopic procedures for the diagnosis and treatment of pain.

As an interventional pain clinic, we work to avoid the management of opioids (chemicals like OxyContin, Vicodin, etc.) that work by binding to opioid receptors found primarily in the central nervous system. These may decrease the perception of pain and not the cause of it. Because of our interventional pain management focus, we believe that in most cases, procedures can be performed to treat pain and eliminate the need for dependency on opioid medication.

Throughout their treatment, our patients are carefully monitored with special attention given to how they are progressing and if they are receiving medications, when and if they need to be altered.

Interventional Pain Management Treatments

At our Pain Center, state-of-the-art micro-invasive procedures can be performed to pinpoint the exact cause of pain and treat it. Most of these treatments are in-office procedures and take less than one hour. Treatments include:

  • Discography
  • Selective Nerve Root Block
  • Medial Branch Nerve Blocks
  • Facet Joint Blocks
  • Sacroiliac Joint Blocks
  • Sympathetic Blocks
  • Peripheral Nerve Blocks
  • Costovertebral Block
  • Occipital Nerve Blocks
