Megan Kenny
For Megan Kenny, a bit of foot pain wasn't really cause for alarm - until it didn't go away. She was a marathon runner. She practiced yoga. She was rarely sedentary.
So, she and her primary care physician were both surprised when her foot pain turned out to be more than just an overuse injury. Megan and her family were in the process of moving from Albany to Rochester, so by the time she got settled and made an appointment with Meghan Garg, MD, at Rochester Regional Health's Allergy, Immunology and Rheumatology practice, she could barely walk.
"I couldn't enjoy Rochester," she said, "and it was hard for me to not be active." But that began to change as Dr. Garg added new medications and treatments for rheumatoid arthritis. Just a few months later, Megan and her family went to Disney World, and Megan was able to walk and enjoy all the sights. "Dr. Garg always takes my lifestyle into account," Megan said. "She knows I have two young kids, and I like to be active. So, she's always shooting for me to feel good enough to do what I need to do."
This past spring Dr. Garg added one final medication. "It got rid of my achiness in the morning," said Megan, who continues to exercise, run to the store and take her children swimming. "For the most part, I'm fine. I'm really good."
