Treating the Whole Patient

Our goal at the Rochester Regional Health Epilepsy Center is to treat the whole patient and provide support and guidance to each family. Our specialized team is here to offer support in navigating the complex world of epilepsy.

Preparing for Your First Visit

What to Bring

Arrive at least 15 minutes before your appointment to check in and fill out forms and bring the following:

  • Copies of medical records, tests and screenings from medical providers not affiliated with Rochester Regional Health, if applicable.
  • Your insurance card and a picture ID.
  • A list of your medications, including nutritional supplements, and their dosages.
  • Names, addresses and phone numbers of all health care professionals who should receive letters about our findings and suggestions.

What to Expect

The length of your first visit may vary, but on average, will usually take 1-2 hours.

  • During your visit, your neurologist will:
    • review your medical history, medical concern, family history, current listing of medications and allergies
    • perform a physical exam, including a specific neurological exam
  • At the conclusion of your visit, the physician may:
    • request certain lab or other diagnostic tests to identify or rule out certain diagnoses
    • prescribe medications and provide dosage instructions
    • schedule a follow-up visit to review lab/test results
