Be Your Best Self
A gracefully aging face is a beautiful thing, but changes may occur with age that we would like to slow down. There may also be facial imperfections that cause us to feel self-conscious and unhappy. For these concerns, facial cosmetic surgery may be an option. Whatever the reason, our board-certified plastic surgeons are here to guide you and help you feel more confident in your skin.
Facial Cosmetic Surgery Types
Many patients turn to facial cosmetic surgery to achieve a more youthful appearance or to enhance or change a facial feature they are not completely happy with. You may have a procedure in mind, or you may be hoping that your experienced surgeon can offer suggestions to help you reach your full potential. Whatever your needs, goals, or hopes, our providers will design a personalized treatment plan to enhance your face and make you look and feel your best.
Eyelid Surgery
Sagging eyelids and under-eye puffiness can make you look tired or appear older than you are. Drooping or heavy upper eyelids can also interfere with your line of sight.
Eyelid surgery, also known as blepharoplasty, removes excess skin and fat from the upper or lower eyelids and can help with:
- Bags under your eyes
- Drooping lower eyelids
- Excess skin
- Fatty deposits that look like puffiness
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Loose or sagging skin on the upper eyelid
Men and women of all skin types and ethnicities may be candidates for eyelid surgery as long as you have:
- Good overall health
- Reasonable expectations for results
- No serious eye conditions
During your initial consultation, your plastic surgeon will evaluate your facial anatomy thoroughly and will discuss what procedures might best remedy your facial concerns.
Facelift
The loss of youthful contours in the face can be due to a variety of factors, including thinning of the skin, loss of facial fat, gravity, sun damage, smoking, as well as heredity, and stress.
Facelift surgery, also called rhytidectomy, helps turn back the clock and remove the signs of aging by removing extra skin and fat from your face while also tightening your surrounding tissue and muscles. The goal of this procedure is to help eliminate fine lines and wrinkles, giving you a fresh, youthful appearance. Facelifts cannot change your fundamental appearance but can be performed with other cosmetic facial surgeries.
You may be a candidate for a facelift if you:
- Are in good overall health
- Are concerned about jowls, lines, and sagging in your lower face and neck
- Have realistic expectations for results
There are two types of facelifts–the full facelift and the mini-facelift. Your plastic surgeon will work with you to determine which best fits your cosmetic goals and expectations.
Neck Lift
Aging, gravity, and sun damage can cause the skin of your neck to loosen and sag. Fat that had once provided youthful volume to the upper face may start to slide down and collect around the jawline. If you are not quite ready for a full facelift, a neck lift is an excellent option.
A neck lift also called a platysmaplasty or lower rhytidectomy is a surgical procedure that removes excess skin on your neck area while tightening your tissue and muscle. The goal of neck lift surgery is to restore smooth, firm skin tone and a slimmer, more defined jaw and chin.
You may be a candidate for a facelift if you:
- Are in good overall health
- Are concerned about jowls, lines, and sagging in your neck
- Have realistic expectations for results
Neck lifts do not change your fundamental appearance or stop the aging process, however, your plastic surgeon can recommend other cosmetic procedures to rejuvenate your appearance if desired.
Rhinoplasty
As the most central feature on your face, as well as a vital part of breathing, you want to make sure your nose is both aesthetically pleasing and functioning properly.
Rhinoplasty, also commonly referred to as nose surgery or a “nose job”, can be used to reshape the contour of the nose, correct structural abnormalities that may impair breathing, and make the nose more proportionate with the rest of the face.
Rhinoplasty can help with:
- Nasal asymmetry
- A nasal tip that is bulbous, drooping, hooked, or upturned
- Nose size in relation to your face
- Nose width
- Nose profile
- Wide, upturned, or large nostrils
Men and women may be candidates for rhinoplasty as long as:
- You are in good overall health
- Your facial growth is complete
- You have realistic expectations for results
During your initial consultation, your plastic surgeon will evaluate your facial anatomy thoroughly and will discuss your options available and recommended course of treatment based on your surgical goals.
Ear Pinning
People may have prominent ears – ears that stick out too far from the head or are larger in proportion to the head – because of extra cartilage, the cartilage that sits in the wrong place in their ear, or because their ear cartilage didn’t fold correctly when their ear was forming as a baby.
Ear pinning, also referred to as Otoplasty or ear surgery, can improve the proportion, position, or shape of your ear. Otoplasty can also correct minor deformities to the ear caused by accident or injury. Please note, Otoplasty will not change the location of your ears or alter your ability to hear.
Ear pinning is safe for children and adults who:
- Are in good overall health
- Have ears that are full size (usually after age 5)
- Have realistic expectations for results
During your initial consultation, your plastic surgeon will discuss your expectations and desired outcome, evaluate your anatomy thoroughly, and carefully explain your treatment options.
Cancer
For many, the treatment of cancer requires surgery to remove cancerous growths, which may leave you with missing skin, tissue, or underlying bones. Reconstructive facial surgery can repair both appearance and functionality, and your plastic surgeon will make every effort to remove your cancer without drastically changing your appearance.
The reconstructive cancer procedures we perform include:
- Bone grafts
- Fat grafts
- Reconstruction following radiation damage
- Scar revision
- Skin grafts and skin flaps
- Soft tissue augmentation
When you meet with your plastic surgeon, you will discuss expectations and your desired outcome, as well as the necessary treatment(s) to remove cancerous growths.
