Values of a DAISY Award Nominee

A DAISY Award nominee is a nurse whose clinical skill and especially her/his compassionate care exemplify the kind of nurse that our patients, their families, and our team members recognize as an outstanding role model. She/he acts in a way that consistently demonstrates the values of our organization as evidenced by:

  • A passion for nursing
  • Being an integral member of the team
  • Clinical excellence
  • Respect for patients and families
  • Service to the community

If you have seen or experienced care from a nurse who had these qualities, please nominate them today!

Reward an Outstanding Nurse

If you have encountered an exceptional nurse, please nominate them for a DAISY Award. Rochester Regional Health and our hard-working nurses thank you!

What do DAISY Award Winners Receive?

Each DAISY Award Honoree will be recognized at a public ceremony in her/his unit and will receive a:

  • Beautiful certificate
  • DAISY Award pin
  • Hand-carved stone sculpture entitled "A Healer's Touch"
  • Celebration with cinnamon rolls for the honoree and their unit–a favorite of Patrick's during his illness

We are tremendously proud of our inspiring nurses and are thankful that you've chosen to nominate them.

About the DAISY Foundation

The DAISY Foundation™ was established in 2000 by the family of J. Patrick Barnes who died from complications of the auto-immune disease Idiopathic Thrombocytopenia Purpura (ITP) at the age of 33. (DAISY is an acronym for diseases attacking the immune system.) During Pat's 8-week hospitalization, his family was awestruck by the care and compassion his nurses provided to Pat and everyone in his family. One of the goals they set in creating a foundation in Pat's memory was to recognize extraordinary nurses everywhere who make an enormous difference in the lives of so many people through the super-human work they do every day.
