The Graduate Nurse Program is an innovative cohort-based initiative is designed to propel aspiring nurses into their careers while offering paid NCLEX Preparation.
Participants in the program will benefit from:
- Placement in a Med/Surg unit at one of our esteemed hospitals
- Comprehensive orientation on their designated unit for 32 hours per week
- Paid NCLEX Preparation sessions for 8 hours per week, including access to our NCLEX Boot Camp facilitated by the College of Health & ATI NCLEX Prep
New to practice nurses will start the career in the Med/Surg Unit at:
- Rochester General Hospital
- Unity Hospital
- United Memorial Medical Center
- Clifton Springs Hospital
- Newark-Wayne Community Hospital
The Graduate Nurse Program provides all-inclusive support to kick-start their nursing profession, with:
- Classroom-based Clinical Orientation (2 weeks)
- Comprehensive Unit-Based Orientation (8 weeks)
- NCLEX Bootcamp (4 hrs/wk for 5 weeks)
- ATI NCLEX Review (virtual asynchronous)
- Nurse Residency Program Participation

Interested in shadowing one of our clinical areas and learning more about opportunities within the Rochester Regional Health System? This application will get the ball rolling!
Shadow experiences provide an opportunity to learn more about unit culture and communication styles, leadership support, patient populations, and skills required to work on the unit.
Minimum Qualifications
- Enrollment and matriculation in an accredited RN, LPN, Physical Medicine (OT/PT/SLP), Social Work, Radiology Technologist, Registered Dietician, Pharmacy, or Surgical Technologist program required.
Physical Requirements
- Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
- Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.
Our pediatric ED fellowship gives recent nursing graduates the unique opportunity to experience first-hand the demanding, fast paced and fulfilling environment only found in a pediatric emergency department. You’ll have the chance to apply knowledge learned in nursing school and expand your skills at Rochester General Hospital’s pediatric ED.
The Peds ED fellowship features:
- Six month rotation on pediatric-focused units
- Six months exclusively in pediatric emergency
- Opportunity to work closely with, and learn from, an experienced nurse preceptor
- This fellowship offering is based on department availability.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you’re the engine and the heart of patient care at Rochester Regional Health. The Dialysis Fellowship features:
- A full time, one-year commitment
- Six months training
- Opportunity to work closely with, and learn from, an experienced nurse preceptor
- Starts three times a year in March, August, and October (August grads)

The EXCEL Program features:
- 10 week long program, beginning in June and ending in August; work between 24 to 40 hours per week on varying shifts
- Work side-by-side with a Nurse Preceptor
- Weekly educational events and various networking opportunities are offered to expand your knowledge of the avenues of growth and development within Rochester Regional Health.
- Internships located at Clifton Springs Hospital & Clinic, Newark-Wayne Community Hospital, Rochester General Hospital, United Memorial Medical Center, and Unity Hospital
To be eligible for the EXCEL Nursing Internship Program:
- Enrolled in an accredited nursing program; Baccalaureate program preferred but not required
- Anticipated graduation date is either December 2025 or May 2026

Our EXPLORE nursing program gives you the opportunity to learn more about the areas of nursing that interest you, and further develop the skills and knowledge learned in nursing school. Designed only for recent nursing graduates, this unique program gives you a head start on your nursing career.
The EXPLORE program features:
- A paid program located at Rochester General Hospital, Unity Hospital, United Memorial Medical Center, Newark-Wayne Community Hospital, and Clifton Springs Hospital
- Rotational program provides the opportunity to experience 3 different units within the hospital
- Opportunity to work alongside experienced nurse preceptors
- Weekly educational opportunities, networking events and shadowing events to explore other units.
To be eligible for the EXPLORE Graduate Nursing Program:
- Valid New York State Registered Nurse license
- No previous experience as a Registered Nurse

The emergency department can be exciting and demanding. At Rochester Regional, we have the busiest emergency departments in the state, outside of New York City. Our ED fellowships, available only to recent nursing graduates, gives you the opportunity to experience this fast-paced environment.
The ED fellowship features:
- A year-long program that provides a rotational period on various units plus a training period in the Emergency Department
- Fellowships located at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital, Rochester General Hospital, United Memorial Medical Center, and Unity Hospital
- Opportunity to work closely with, and learn from, an experienced nurse preceptor

Our Perioperative EXPLORE Program introduces new nursing graduates and registered nurses without prior perioperative experience to our Pre/Post Unit, Operating Room (OR), and Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) departments. Together, with us, you will gain hands-on experience in a variety of surgical cases while being supported by expert clinicians eager to help you gain a head start on your nursing career.
Right now, we have openings for our Perioperative EXPLORE Nursing Program, which features:
- A three-month paid program at Rochester General Hospital
- Complete learning experiences in our pre-operative, operative, and recovery units.
- This immersive program provides hands-on training alongside an experienced nurse preceptor.
- Participate in discussions, simulations, or educational meetings.
- At the successful completion the licensed RN will be hired full-time into one of the perioperative units.
- Schedule is Monday-Friday, day/evenings with minimal scheduled/on-call requirements for nights, weekends & holidays.
To be eligible for the Perioperative EXPLORE Program:
- Valid New York State Registered Nurse license
- New Nursing Graduate
- No previous perioperative experience
- Must live within 30 minutes of Rochester General Hospital to fulfill on call requirements.
The Perioperative EXPLORE Program is offered twelve months a year, allowing you to start whenever you are ready to begin your nursing career path with Rochester Regional Health.
