Our obstetricians are fully-trained and boarded medical doctors who have completed the requirements set by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. They offer a full range of women's health services, including pre-pregnancy counseling, prenatal care and checkups, and are present for the delivery of the baby. Additionally, their specialized training allows them to manage complications from higher-risk pregnancies and to perform a cesarean section, should the need arise.

Our certified nurse-midwives are independent women’s health care providers licensed by New York State and certified by the American College of Nurse-Midwives. Midwives specialize in care during pregnancy, birth, and after delivery. In addition to providing prenatal care, midwives are able to handle the majority of all labor and delivery situations, especially in low-risk pregnancies. Our midwives work closely with our obstetricians throughout the health system and a physician is physically present in our Birthing Centers 24/7 for consultation and medical intervention as needed.

Our family medicine physicians are highly trained and board certified medical doctors who have completed the requirements set by the American Board of Family Medicine. They have a strong focus in women’s health including routine low-risk obstetrical care and delivery. As family medicine physicians, they are able to provide coordinated care for your entire family – from newborns to adults – and are backed by Rochester Regional Health’s nationally recognized specialists.

All nurses at the Birthing Center are skilled in assisting new mothers, their newborns, and their families. In addition to being on-call 24/7 and providing 1:1 care during active labor, our experienced nursing staff will help you feel at ease and will be there for any questions that may arise during your stay.

Expectant mothers expect great medical care and healthy babies. They don’t expect complications. But when issues do arise, it’s essential to address them right away. Rochester Regional Health provides responsive, personalized care for mothers- and babies-to-be. Our unique combination of clinical knowledge, experienced staff, and high-tech equipment allows us to deliver specialized diagnostic and consultative services. Our team of experts also have extensive experience in effectively managing risk, even in the most medically complicated pregnancies.

As a World Health Organization "Baby-Friendly" Hospital, we are committed to assisting new mothers with breastfeeding in every way we can. We have internationally certified Nurse Lactation Consultants on staff 24-hours a day ready to assist with all aspects of breastfeeding. Our Healthy Living program offers one on one education and support as well as our Baby Cafe drop-in. The Lactation helpline is also an invaluable resource and can be reached at 585.344.8104.
