At Rochester Regional Health we offer multiple birthing options, so you can customize your experience according to your needs in an emotionally supportive, culturally sensitive environment. Options include:

  • Reclining chairs to accommodate your support person

Birthing suites

The birthing centers at Rochester Regional Health offer advanced technologies and modern amenities to make your baby?s arrival as comfortable and special as possible.

  • Spacious, home-like private rooms
  • 24-hour onsite anesthesia coverage
  • Many rooms are labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum (LDRP) suites

Breastfeeding support

All hospitals within Rochester Regional Health are ?Baby-Friendly? hospitals, following the World Health Organization?s initiative to support a mother?s choice to breastfeed.

  • Internationally certified nurse lactation consultants on staff
  • Nurses are skilled in assisting breastfeeding families
  • Lactation consultants provide breastfeeding support after you return home   

Rochester Regional Health is also proud to be a part of the Baby Cafe breastfeeding support group network. All Baby Cafe services are provided free of charge.

Mother-baby nursing

  • Specialty trained nurses care for both you and your newborn baby
  • Rooming in ? your baby remains with you in your private room
  • Nurses educate you in taking care of your newborn

Cesarean section

If you require a cesarean delivery, you and your baby are in good hands. Rochester Regional Health provides leading edge obstetric services and a special labor and delivery area for higher risk deliveriesWhether your C-section is scheduled ahead of time or performed by our trained rapid response team, you will enjoy:

  • Caregivers with specialized expertise, to maximize your recovery
  • Skin-to-skin contact with your baby as soon as your baby is stable
  • All the support and information you need to begin the bonding process

Complications

If you or your baby need extra care or encounter complications during or after childbirth, our highly skilled obstetricians, neonatologists and pediatricians are on site 24 hours a day to deliver the care and assistance you need right away. You can feel secure in the knowledge that we are committed to the health and safety of you and your baby, with specialized support resources including:

  • A four-bed assessment center for close medical monitoring of laboring moms
  • A level II special care nursery provides advanced care to babies who need it
  • Social workers to coordinate home care and access to support services

Keeping Your Sleeping Baby Safe
Keeping your baby safe while sleeping is very important. Healthy infants can die if they are in an unsafe sleep environment. We help your baby to sleep safely by following our Safe Sleep Initiative. Our birthing centers are nationally certified Gold Sleep Champions.?
