Rochester Regional Health Infectious Disease provides clinical and consulting services regarding the diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic infectious diseases. The unit also provides expertise and leadership in epidemiology and infection control programs.
The unit consists of four physicians who are board-certified in both Internal Medicine and Infectious Disease and are full-time faculty of the University of Rochester.

The New York State screening guidelines for hepatitis C help to identify patients who may be infected with hepatitis C but unaware of their status. Our providers evaluate and treat a wide spectrum of infectious diseases including but not limited to hepatitis C and HIV/AIDS. Patients will meet with one of our experiences providers for a comprehensive evaluation and to establish a treatment plan.

Research
Rochester Regional Health is involved in the research of respiratory viruses. NIH-sponsored research programs in the epidemiology, immunology, and clinical impact of respiratory viruses including Respiratory Syncytial Virus, Influenza virus, and human Metapneumoviruses, with an emphasis on elderly and high-risk persons. Additional research involves the development of newer molecular diagnostic tests for respiratory viruses, and the development, and testing of potential new vaccines for these viruses.
